Wajir County excels at 13th Desert Wheel Race, Fashion Gala


The 13th Edition of the Desert Wheel Race and Desert Fashion Gala concluded with remarkable achievements for Wajir County, as local participants delivered outstanding performances in both competitions.

Wajir’s Bishara Abdi Abdullahi secured a well-deserved third place in the highly anticipated Fashion Gala, while Feisal Mohamed Olow represented the county with determination, finishing eighth in the fiercely competitive Desert Wheel Race.

In the Fashion Gala, Bishara Abdullahi and Hamdi Ahmed, last year’s winner from Wajir County, captivated the audience with their impressive presentations. Their performances earned them special recognition for their creativity and dedication.

Bishara’s third-place finish was a proud moment for the county, highlighting the growing presence of Wajir in the event.

Feisal Mohamed Olow’s performance in the Desert Wheel Race showcased his determination and spirit as he competed against a strong field, finishing eighth. His efforts were celebrated as a testament to the resilien
ce and skill of Wajir’s athletes.

Speaking at the event, Wajir County’s Chief Officer for Gender and Social Services, Fatuma Olow, expressed pride in the county’s performance.

‘Our team did really well, and we aim to come back stronger next time. I would like to congratulate all the participants from various counties and to everyone involved in making the event a success,’ she said.

Fatuma emphasized the broader significance of the event, noting, ‘We celebrate not just the winners but all those who contributed to the success of this wonderful event and the collective effort in promoting inclusivity and empowerment through sports and fashion.’

The Desert Wheel Race and Fashion Gala have become vital platforms for celebrating diversity, talent, and the rights of persons with disabilities across the region.
