An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West Region on Wednesday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) revealed in the daily crime report on Thursday that the incident occurred around 01h00.

It is alleged that the suspect, who is known to the girl and her family, entered her room and had sexual intercourse with her.

The suspect is yet to be arrested and police investigations into the matter continue.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old man was arrested in Kavango West on the same day after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl.

It is alleged that the suspect dragged the victim into the bush while she was eating wild berries and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

He is expected to appear in the Kahenge Periodic Court on Friday.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
