Two talented students from Agoro Sare high school were Saturday picked for a full-time scholarship at Lindsey Wilson University, USA.
The students, James Omollo and Vincent Rapudo were noticed by a talent scout Sicelo Buthelezi during a friendly soccer match at Agoro Sare high school.
The match which brought together three schools- Agoro Sare and Gendia high school in Homabay county and Kisumu boys from Kisumu County was sponsored by Eliud Owalo Foundation.
Among the guests of honor at the event were former Harambee Stars player James Goro Orongo and coach Gerrald Omollo who advised players from the three schools to focus on their studies even as they excel in sports.
‘I have seen a lot of good players today but remember to focus on education for it is also important even as you shine in your talent,’ Mr. Orongo advised.
During a mentorship session, the former Stars player said that talent and sports were important saying that was why the Eliud Owalo Foundation together with its partners were scouting fo
r talented students in sports to help them excel.
‘The Eliud Owalo Foundation has partnered with interested parties like the Lindsey Wilson University USA to help you excel both academically and in sports,’ he said
The match hosted in Agoro Sare High School pitch ran for 270 minutes and saw Agoro Sare win 1- 0 in the first match against Kisumu boys.
In the second match, the Kisumu boys lost to Gendia boys with a score of 0-1.
The third match saw Agoro Sare and Gendia who were the winners of the first and second match face off in the final match which ended in a 1- 1 draw.
The Owalo Foundation promised more scholarships to students who display impressive skills.
