Sports is a remedy for mental health-Transport Cabinet Secretary


Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has laid plans to broaden the Kenya Communication Sports Organisation (KECOSO) to attract more National Government Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as a remedy to allay rising fears of mental and physical health concerns among employees.

Speaking at the Ministry’s Headquarters at Transcom House Nairobi Tuesday during the award ceremony for the 2024 KECOSO games winners, the CS extended the invitation to all government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to subscribe and join the games to enhance their human resources well-being for maximum productivity translating to enhanced service delivery.

Plans are underway to rebrand KECOSO to suit all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) besides entrenching a culture of a healthy workforce that embraces sports.

The Cabinet Secretary invited government employees to voluntarily take-up sporting terming it as a remedy for the woes that are attached to the proverbial work with no play makes Jack a dull boy.

ed on revamping and rebranding KECOSO to have a broad outlook as the National Government annual sporting event from the current membership of three Ministries to the rest including their departments and agencies (MDAs)

Since establishment, KECOSO has attracted membership from various Ministries including Ministry of Roads and Transport, Ministry of Information Communications and the Digital Economy, Ministry of Maritime affairs with negotiations on-going to onboard more ministries within the National Government.

Mr Chirchir appealed to well-wishers to contact his office and sign-up as partners and sponsors for the sports event which will consequently enhance effective service delivery to the citizens through a motivated and healthy workforce.
