A total of 25 coaches began their journey to obtain the CAF B license at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).
This marks the sixth CAF B course run by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), highlighting the ongoing commitment to coach education and football development. The diverse group of participants includes two teachers, Jerry Opondo from Ambira High School and George Ojwaya from Kombani Youth.
Their inclusion underscores the importance of the Football for Schools programme, which aims to enhance football knowledge among teachers. This initiative provides crucial training to coach educators, promoting better player development at the grassroots level.
In addition to participating in CAF-accredited courses, these teachers have access to the Football for Schools application.
The tool allows them to incorporate life skills into their training sessions, ensuring students gain both football knowledge and broader personal development.
Jerry Opondo, a teacher from Ambira High School, praised the
federation’s coaching courses for their positive impact on children’s education and the nurturing of their foundation. ‘To my fellow teachers, take these chances, since the opportunity is here to further our football knowledge,’ he added.
FKF CEO Barry Otieno emphasised the significance of coaching courses in achieving the Federation’s key priorities and promoting Kenyan football’s vision.
He stated that ‘by equipping our coaches with advanced skills and knowledge, we’re directly investing in the future of our youth and women’s football programmes. Well-trained coaches are the cornerstone of player development, and this course will help us build a stronger, more competitive football landscape across all levels.’
He highlighted the success of the Junior Starlets team as evidence of the initiative’s impact on Kenya’s youth national teams.

tball history. Both coaches are products and beneficiaries of our coaching programmes, showing we are heading in the right direction.’
Over the coming weeks, participants will undergo intensive training, covering topics such as tactical analysis, player development, and modern coaching methodologies. Thus, the four-month course will be conducted under the expert guidance of coaches Salim Ali and Musa Otieno.
