NYS Recruits 40 In Tongaren

40 youths qualify to join the National Youth Service(NYS) at Tongaren Sub-county Bungoma County.

According to NYS chief inspector Jacob Barwecho who coordinated the exercise said that the exercise ended successfully without any hitches.

He added that being the first time the exercise is being carried out in the sub-county candidates were drawn from three wards namely Mitua,Ndalu, and Tongaren.

Barwecho added that most candidates had the requirements apart from a certificate of good conduct which made some of them proceed to the next stage.

However successful candidates recruited passed relevant qualifications in education, age, and medicine.

Assistant County Commissioner 1 Edward Lameck noted that the turnout was average.

Lameck called upon youth who wish to join the youth service in the future to meet and have the requirements.

The assistant county commissioner noted that among the qualifiers 24 are boys while 16 are girls.

On the other hand, the commissioner noted that the sub-county still experienc

Lameck said there is the challenge of infrastructure where roads are still in a poor state.

He added that there is still a high number of teenage pregnancies and the sub-county was ranked third in the County.

Finally, he said that there is still a high number of school dropouts in the sub-county.

He called upon stakeholders to come on board so that they can address the challenges not leave it to the national government and coordination officers.
