Traders and vendors in Mukuyuni town, in Makueni, will benefit from a newly commissioned Mukuyuni modern mixed-use market.
The business centre has 132 vendor stalls with an aggregation centre that is expected to boost trade and horticulture farming in the area.
The flagship project of Wote Municipality, with the support of the World Bank, was commissioned on Thursday evening by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
Mutula urged the traders to take care of the project, adding that they will officially open a stockyard market in the area to benefit livestock businessmen.
The modern market has solar-powered lighting, lactation rooms for mothers, cold rooms for storage, rainwater harvesting, and waste management systems to conserve the environment.
It has an aggregation centre that will empower the local community by providing job opportunities, nurturing entrepreneurship, and promoting local products.
