Narok County Constructs Boda Boda Shades

Boda Boda operators in Narok town can breathe a sigh of relief, after the County government constructed modern sheds, to protect them from harsh weather.

While commissioning the sheds built in strategic places in Narok town, Narok County, Governor, Patrick Ntutu, said the motorbike sheds will enhance their operations, as they will remain comfortable in sunny and rainy weather.

Ntutu expressed commitment to continue supporting the sector, that is mainly dominated by young people, so that they can improve their standards of livelihood.

‘I will support this sector, because it has employed many young people. When I came in as your Governor, there was no single shed in this town, but now I want to ensure that there are enough sheds around the town to accommodate you all,’ he said.

He reiterated that the County government had reduced the fees charged to the boda boda operators from Sh. 300 to Sh. 200 to enable them save more money.

Ntutu also promised to give bursaries to the children of boda boda operators, w
ho cannot afford to educate their children.

‘I have set aside some money to give as a bursary to the boda boda sector. Your leaders will submit a list of most vulnerable children, whom we will support,’ he said.

On matters security, Governor Ntutu called on the operators to be at the forefront of promoting peace in the County by reporting suspicious people to the police.

He asked them to beware of their customers, as many criminals choose to use motorbikes when going to commit a crime.

At the same time, Governor Ntutu commissioned several roads in Narok town, that had been renovated, after the prolonged rainy season.

Ntutu who inspected the roads around the town, promised to continue improving the roads, to make them passable and enhance mobility within the town.

‘Our people should travel at ease. We are making all roads around the town passable, so that we can save on travel time and fuel,’ he said.
