Mouhoun/Reforestation campaign: Around sixty plants planted at the CMA Mgr Zéphyrin Toé

The agents of the Medical Center with surgical branch (CMA) Mgr Zéphyrin Toé of Dédougou, mobilized, on Saturday August 10, 2024, to improve their living environment through the burial of around sixty plants and cleaning the courtyard of said center. This activity, the second of its kind, aims to provide a friendly environment for all CMA users.

For the second time, the Medical Center with surgical branch (CMA) Mgr Zéphyrin Toé de Dédougou, initiated a sanitation and reforestation campaign with the aim of establishing a dynamic of sustainable health self-promotion of hygiene, cleanliness within it as well as the planting of plants in order to generate over the years a key ecosystem for better well-being at the center.

To do this, on the morning of Saturday August 10, the agents, far from blouses and other consultation materials, mobilized to plant around sixty plants composed of mango trees, flamboyant trees and other species as well as the cleaning of said center.

For the Director of the CMA, Abbot Jean Z
ougouri, the activity aims on the one hand to give another aspect to nature according to the orientations of the country’s first leaders through National Tree Day, and on the other hand, to create a healthy, peaceful environment for the center’s patients.

‘We know that health is not just a question of medicines but a whole conditioning through the environment and a healthy framework to help the patient to have appeasement, relief, in short, to have tranquility’, explained the ‘Abbot Zougouri.

Indeed, the environment has an undeniable impact on health. The presence of green spaces is associated with several significantly positive effects on the physical and mental health of populations by reducing symptoms of depression and stress.

The provision of green rest areas in hospitals allows both employees and visitors to find themselves in a calming and rejuvenating place.

These places then constitute places for improving the quality of human contacts between hospital users, because they spend time there and the
refore feel more comfortable in this environment.

‘It is this framework that we want to create inside our health structure and allow any patient or accompanying person to be in contact with nature, to admire it with the aim of total appeasement,’ underlined the director of the CMA.

For the success of this project, Abbot Jean Zougouri, explained that tree planting is based on enterprising participation at the community level.

‘Tree maintenance is the responsibility of agents who are grouped into pairs per plant. They therefore have the duty and the obligation to maintain their tree so that it grows well and can reflect the image of those who are responsible for its maintenance,’ he continued.

Before planting, technicians from the Dédougou departmental environment service gave a brief course on planting technique before inviting the agents to do the same.

The planting carried out in August 2023 within the CMA has a success rate of around 90%. These well-maintained trees help to give another aspect of the m
edical center which is in full growth.
