Mouhoun/Maracana of resilience in Dédougou: A month of activities for the benefit of young people


The Mouhoun en marche association in collaboration with the brand “On ne bande point”, closed on Saturday, September 7, 2024, the first edition of its tournament called Maracana of resilience around the theme: “Sport for all , factor of resilience and social cohesion”. The team of young united volunteers won against the Black Stars team by a score of one goal to zero after the penalty shootout.

Promoting sport for all by creating a framework for entertainment, living together, a factor of resilience through a Maracana by bringing together all the teams of the population of the Mouhoun province, pupils and students, FDS and VDP, such is the objective of the first edition of the resilience tournament, organized by the association Le Mouhoun en marche in collaboration with the brand ‘On ne créc point’.

For a month, the activities of the Maracana, which attracted people, were intended to contribute to maintaining the flame of hope for a way out of the crisis and to promoting living together by raising awarenes
s among young people to fully engage in the fight against violent extremism.

For the promoter of the activity, David Dao, the Boucle du Mouhoun region is facing a dual security and humanitarian crisis and the stress is greatly affecting the population.

He indicated that the Maracana Resilience Tournament is intended to be a platform to animate the city of Dédougou and a platform to promote the values ??of peace, unity, cohesion and commitment to face the terrorist hydra that the region is experiencing.

‘In addition to football, we organized a cycle race for the benefit of women in the city of Dédougou, board games, talks on themes related to the national situation and the commitment of young people to a Burkina of peace and prosperity,’ he said .

He also called on the youth to unite and contribute together to the harmonious development of the country.

In the opinion of the High Commissioner of the Mouhoun province, Souleymane Nacanabo, given the enthusiasm and the quality of the competition, this first e
dition of the resilience tournament was a masterstroke.

“In view of what is linked to our national situation, the Maracana tournament of resilience is an opportunity to ask everyone to always think Nation and whatever the situation, our differences, we will have to defend the country. We must coexist and through this tournament , we have crossed the bar to be able to coexist,” stressed Mr. Nacanabo.

He paid a vibrant tribute to our FDS and VDP who are doing tremendous work on the ground, whose actions enable the holding of animation activities in the different localities.

As a curtain raiser, the FDS team met that of the former Bankuy FC team which ended with a score of one goal each.

The long-awaited grand finale was dominated by a commitment from each team who wanted to leave with the trophy.

At the end of regulation time, the referee’s final whistle led the two teams to prepare for the penalty shootout and it was the team of young united volunteers who won the final.

The finalist team leaves with a s
et of jerseys, a ball and an envelope of 75,000 CFA francs.

The winning team wins the trophy, a set of jerseys and an envelope of 100,000 CFA francs.

The first woman in the women’s cycling race left with a bike, a financial envelope and many gadgets.

The next edition was held to the satisfaction of the general public.
