Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali has cautioned against ineptness among public servants reiterating that members of the public deserved effective services from the Government.
Governor Ali also asked Marsabit residents to continue living in harmony by jealously guarding the hard achieved tranquility in the County for accelerated development.
The Governor who was officiating at the launch of the scheme of service for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers and translation of their service from contract to pensionable terms said his administration will not entertain underperformance.
He directed the County Secretary that absenteeism and absconding of duty should not be condoned as the habit was denying members of the public much desired services.
Ali expressed concern over reports reaching him that some dispensaries were not running despite the Government having sourced for enough medical personnel and drugs.
He ordered all health facilities to be operationalised by the end of this month without
exception with the County Secretary tasked with cleaning the devolved unit’s payroll of any inept and lazy workers.
‘I do not understand how residents are forced to do without an essential service like health when my government has employed enough nurses and other medical personnel,’ the Governor stated and directed the County Secretary to rein in ineptitude not only in the Department but across all sectors.
This, the Governor said, would guarantee the residents good services commensurate with the taxes they paid to the government.
He underlined the importance of education and urged the 402 teachers whose terms of service would now be permanent and pensionable to impart skills and knowledge to the over 18,000 ECDE learners in the 365 learning centres across the County.
Ali said the importance of education could not be over emphasized as a catalyst for development both at the individual and national level.
The County Government which has been offering training to the ECDE teachers on Competency-Based Curr
iculum (CBC) with the support of Food for the Hungry (FH) Kenya expects the fraternity to be of much help in the implementation of the new education policy.
The Governor who was flanked by the Chairman of County Public Service Board Ambrose Argurra, the County Executive Member for Education, Skills Development, Youth and Sports Ms. Ambaro Abdullahi and the Administrative Officer at the County Commissioner’s Office Festus Chepkwony also launched the distribution of learning and teaching aid materials for the ECDE centres.
On peace, the Governor said restored calm in the County had paved the way for local and external investments which had greatly stimulated economic growth.
Marsabit County was last year rated top on matters of cohesion and integration in a survey conducted by the National Integration and Cohesion Commission (NCIC) which the Governor was now rooting for in order to foster more growth.
