A 22-year-old man from Kapsoiyo Village in Bomet Central was found dead after he was swept away by flash floods on Monday.
The deceased was said to have been aboard a tractor carrying wood when he accidentally fell off into a seasonal Ngeny stream at Kiptilingit, Motigo, Bomet East.
According to the area Assistant Chief Jackline Maritim, the man was found on Tuesday morning trapped at the banks of the stream.
She further said a child was this morning saved after drowning when she attempted to cross a damaged bridge.
The administrator urged residents to avoid crossing flooded waterways, especially during the current rainy season.
This comes at the time when Bomet County Commissioner Dr Ahmed Omar has raised concerns over the rising cases of fatalities resulting from drowning.
Dr. Omar pointed out that drunkenness and drug abuse had contributed to carelessness while crossing waterways.
He urged Bomet residents to utilize bridges and sensitise children on the same.
