Kisii Coffee Farmers Call For Better Machinery

Coffee farmers in Kisii County have requested the government to equip coffee factories with modern machines to increase production.

Speaking to the press at Nyanturago Stadium in Kisii Central Sub-County, the farmers lamented about the low prices of coffee, despite the huge workload associated with coffee farming.

The coffee farmers noted they are forced to travel for long distances to ensure their coffee is manufactured and the process is very costly in terms of transportation.

Consequently, the farmers said they had identified a parcel of land, where a coffee factory would be set up in Ibeno Ward in the same Sub County and was in the process of purchasing the same.

They urged the area Member of County Assembly Steve Arika and the leadership of the County to help them in purchasing the machines which will be used to improve coffee production.

Samuel Ogosi, a coffee farmer from Kenyenya Sub County, pointed out that the number of coffee farmers had increased over the years, forcing them to improve the qua
lity of the coffee.

Ogosi called upon the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua to assist with the construction of the factory and the procurement of the coffee production machines in order to improve the earnings of coffee farmers.
