The ongoing Kiambu County Governor’s Championship Football Tournament has received a referee’s Electronic Substitution Board, from a local innovator, to facilitate the sports events.
During the symbolic handing-taking over event, the Board made its debut at the Zone B games held on Sunday 21st January 2024 at Githunguri Stadium.
The County CECM for Sports, Ali Osman, who officially received the donation from the local innovator, Mr. Zacchaeus Munyange, said the substitution Board is a high-tech makeover to the tournament that will enhance the overall experience for players, fans, and officials alike.
‘This kind of initiative perfectly embodies the Department’s vision of nurturing youth potential. We are excited to see young minds like Zacchaeus, using their creativity, to make a positive impact in the community,’ CECM Osman remarked.
Osman added that the Electronic Substitution Board is a testament to the innovative spirit of the nation’s young citizens and this has also worked as a platform to showcase
their talents and entrepreneurial spirit.
‘This Electronic Substitution Board is the first in the County and will not only add a modern touch to the tournament but also serve as a symbol of the department’s commitment to support and empower young people,’ added the Sports CECM.
In his remarks, Zacchaeus Munyange said he is happy to be part of the great revolution that is happening nationally and in the County levels in the Sports Department.
‘Having the youths playing in the field for me, means reduced cases of crime, drug and alcohol abuse and hence having a more productive youth,’ said Munyange.
He added that his focus is in developing appropriate technologies that can support the communities.
‘This is a very important piece of equipment in football, which provides exceptional visibility from one end of the pitch to the other, offering long-distance readability up to 100m away with 23.5cm high digits, Spectators and players at all corners of the stadium, will be aware of crucial in-match changes, due t
o the substantial wide-angle readability of 150 degrees,’ said Munyange
He further added that the Electronic Football Referee Substitution Board has been built to be comfortable to lift, enhancing the ease of operation of the football matchday equipment, for pitch side officials.
The tournament continues this Sunday, January 28th, at Kanjeru Stadium in Kabete Sub-County, with Zone C teams vying for their chance to shine.
