Ivory Coast – AIP/ A jazz festival in Adiaké to promote “cocoa culture”

A festival called “cacao jazz” was launched on Friday, October 14, 2022, in Adiaké to promote “cocoa culture”.

“Cocoa Jazz is a festival for the promotion, enhancement and safeguard of cocoa made in Côte d’Ivoire and jazz music,” said the promoter of the festival, Ignace Koffi.

For him, the objective of this festival is to promote the culture of cocoa and to promote the cultural influence of Côte d’Ivoire through jazz.

He said that Ivorian cocoa and jazz are two essential products in the training of elite citizens. The fusion of the two products inevitably gives Ivorian citizens loving prosperity and peace.

To show how the coffee-cocoa binomial, especially cocoa, is a unifying plant, the organizers have planned a conference on the theme “On the cocoa route: a factor of integration, social cohesion and unity.” This theme was led by two speakers, notably Traoré Solange and Blé Daniel, both from the Ivorian office for the promotion of African integration (BIPIA).

They showed, with supporting examples, that cocoa cultivation is a factor of unity and social cohesion because in a cocoa plantation, there are at least three nationalities, namely, the landowner, generally indigenous , its workers coming from the sub-region and the buyers who are either Lebanese or Syrians or even French.

The sub – prefect of Etuéboué, Guehi Adolphe, representing the prefect of Adiaké, Trazié Lucie, congratulated this “beautiful” initiative which highlights “what the country holds most dear to the coffee-cocoa binomial” before wishing the sustainability of this festival.

The cocoa jazz festival is held in Yamoussoukro on December 07,08,09 and 10, 2022, we learned.
