Governor Lomorukai Leads Restocking And Relief Efforts In Kalapata


Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, led a livestock restocking program and distribution of relief food supplies to victims of 2023 stock theft attack and to households affected by drought at Loperotot, in Turkana South Sub County.

The restocking initiative, targeting 54 families who lost livestock in attacks, provided each household with eight goats.

Governor Lomorukai assured residents of more support in the next budget, to help families rebuild their livelihoods.

He said, ‘We will budget for a more comprehensive restocking for households affected. We are here also to give a message of resilience and support to the families which were traumatized by banditry.’

Security concerns were also a central focus of the Governor’s tour.

Kalapata Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Linus Echeme, highlighted the lack of security in the Ward, calling for immediate action.

County Assembly Security Committee Chair, Samuel Aliwo, echoed this sentiment, calling for the establishment of a police camp in Kalapata Ward.

t of leaders accompanied the Governor, including MCAs Samuel Lomodo (Lokichar), Etubon Samal (Katilu), and Michael Aemun (Kaputir).

County Executives David Erukudi (Trade) and Peter Akono (Lands), Chief Officers Derrick Epae (Administration and Disaster Management), James Illikwel (Finance), John Korikel (Sports and Vocational Training), and David Maraka (Water Services) also joined the efforts.
