Perennial water shortages for residents of Green estate in Elburgon, Molo sub-county will come to an end upon completion of a water borehole, being constructed by the Nakuru county government.

The borehole will serve over 1,000 locals including other social institutions such as schools in the neighbouring community.

According to the area water officer, Angela Watetu, who spoke during the handing over of the project to the contractor, the residents are set to have tapped water in their homesteads, thus assuring them of access to safe and clean water for drinking and use for other domestic purposes.

Given that the borehole will help alleviate water shortages in the area, Watetu advised the locals to utilize their time in various economic development projects that will spur development.

She noted that previously, the residents covered long distances in search of this precious commodity, but they now have ample time to comfortably attend to other issues.

Additionally, she was optimistic that the numerous ca
ses of having water-borne diseases by use of water from the river will drastically drop due to use of the safe water from the borehole.

The water officer further urged the contractor to work within the time limits given to ensure that the residents enjoy steady supply of the water in time.

Watetu was accompanied by the area ward administrator, Rashid Juma and project management committee members.
