Two people have lost their lives in an early morning accident involving a 14-seater matatu and a lorry along the Namanga- Nairobi Road.
According to Isinya Sub County Police Commander, Patrick Manyasi, the accident happened when the Nairobi bound matatu tried to bypass the lorry which had broken down in the middle of the road.
‘The accident could have been occasioned by misjudgment by the matatu driver while trying to overtake the lorry which had broken down in the road as that part of the road is steep,’ saod Manyasi
During the incident two people yet to be identified lost their lives on the spot while others who suffered major injuries were rushed to Succos and Shalom hospitals by good Samaritans.
The Sub County police commander also added that they are establishing the correct number of the injured persons so as to account for all the passengers.
‘Since schools are opening from tomorrow, we will witness the back-to-school rush and I am urging all drivers to be cautious while on the roads. This applie
s not only to matatus, but also to trailers, lorries, bodabodas and Private Vehicles so that we do not lose more lives on the roads especially our children who are reporting back to school,’ said Manyasi
The two bodies were moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary.
