CPBN launches strategic business plan and website

The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) on Wednesday launched its Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP) for the period 2023/2024 – 2027/2028 in Windhoek.

During the launching of the ISBP the CPBN also launched its new website, which will redefine the online experience for all users and represent an innovative design, user-friendly interface, and a passion for delivering exceptional value to its users.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Maureen Hinda-Mbuende said that she was happy to see the CPBN aligned with this world trend by developing its given-year strategic plan which was launched.

“It is key to note that the strategic plan will focus on the following areas, namely to ensure stakeholder satisfaction; improve financial management; improve good governance; improve public procurement service delivery within its mandate; inculcate a performance driven culture and enable CPBN through appropriate infrastructure,” Mbuende said.

Mbuende said that she was informed that the performance of CBPN has improved since its inception in 2017, and that it is evident in the drastic increase in the number of procurement contracts awarded from only one procurement contract awarded during financial year 2017/2018 to 21 contracts during the 2022/2023 financial year.

Furthermore, the value of procurement contracts have also increased from N.dollars 111 million during the 2017/2018 financial year to over N.dollars 2.2 billion worth of procurement contracts awarded during the 2022/2023 financial year, Mbuende said.

“The CPBN plays a very crucial role in the Namibian economy as well as towards the attainment of national developmental goals of the Namibian government, particularly economic growth and the reduction of unemployment,” Mbuende stated.

Mbuende said that 75 per cent of procurement contracts awarded by CPBN were awarded to 100 per cent Namibian entities in the past five years.
