County Government of Trans Nzoia has entered into partnership with National Housing Corporation to mitigate housing crisis in Kitale.
Speaking after signing a deal with National Housing Corporation which will see the surging demand for housing mitigated, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya stressed government’s commitment to provide a long lasting solution to the housing deficit.
While presenting plans to renovate existing units and giving them out at affordable prices, Natembeya hailed NHC for their efforts and willingness to make the deal a success. The County Government of Trans Nzoia plans to reclaim 18 estates from NHC, acquired from the Kitale Municipal Council’s failure to pay debts, hence emphasized that the deal will not only help boost the local economy but, it will also help raise livings standards of the people.
NHC was represented by Acting Managing Director Washington Agutu who said that the body is ready to work with devolved units to help address housing challenges hailing the County Gove
rnment of Trans Nzoia for accepting to clear all the debts which had accumulated.
Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member in charge of Lands, Housing and Urban planning Jane Rose Mutama present during the function said the deal will help reduce the gap in housing.
Present during signing of the deal were County Secretary Truphosa Amere, County Attorney Charles Wabwoba and Chief Officer in charge of Finance and Economic Planning Emmanuel Masungo.
