Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ UNESCO and INP-HB prepare the active phase of the Chinese funds-in-trust project

Yamoussoukro, Jan 22, 2022 (AIP) – The coordinator of the Unesco-Chinese Funds-in-Trust (CFIT) project, Koné Zié Daouda, led a working mission to Yamoussoukro, from Thursday 20 to Friday 21 January 2022, with a view to putting the focal points and the new management of the Institut national polytechnique Houphouët-Boigny (INPHB) in line with its administrative, financial management and project disbursement procedures.

The CFIT generally consists of building the capacities of technical higher education establishments with a view to improving the employability of students after training.

In particular, it will contribute to supporting Côte d’Ivoire in overcoming the difficulties of young people in entering the world of work, by remedying the problem of the mismatch between higher education and the needs of the national economy.

It is thus in line with the vision of the Ivorian government which, through the national development plan (PND) 2021-2025, aims to develop a qualified and competent workforce.

According to Zié Daouda Koné, the project will support training institutes and students to have the necessary skills to improve their development and bring added value to the companies for which they will be hired. The coordinator added that through the “labour market analysis” component, the partner universities will adapt the training curricula, “so that when the student leaves school, he is much more employable”. .

Unesco-Chinese Funds-in-Trust takes gender issues into account and plans to interest a greater number of girls in scientific disciplines.

“Because we have found that very few girls are oriented or have a love of science courses, we will inform, raise awareness and build the capacities of young girls from high school, so that they can have a love of science courses. and see how they can participate in the economic development of Côte d’Ivoire,” he said.

The project takes place in six African countries, three of which are French-speaking.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the partner schools are the Higher School of Industry (ESI) of Yamoussoukro and the department of science of structure, matter and technology within the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University of Abidjan. .

“In the process of continuous improvement, we need this project to be able to develop relations with companies and professional integration institutions,” said the director of the ESI, Professor Tano Aka.
