The secretary general of the prefecture of Jacqueville, Boni Yo Dominique, opened a capacity building workshop for students who are members of the Observatory for Solidarity and Social Cohesion (OSCS), to participatory monitoring of violence in universities and in awareness-raising techniques, during a ceremony organized at the Prunelle hotel in Jacqueville.
Mr. Boni congratulated those responsible for this discovery which will certainly guarantee the tranquility of learners, as well as tranquility in places of learning increasingly shaken by various conflicting currents.
For him, the involvement of this layer of society in the management and resolution of crises and other conflicts on university campuses is a guarantee of a peaceful future and a radiant Côte d’Ivoire.
The Director General of the OSCS, Coulibaly Tiohozon Ibrahima, underlined that this initiative, which aims to contribute to the construction of a responsible political elite through the peaceful management of crises in the university space with a view to lasting peace. in Côte d’Ivoire, arose from the recording of acts of violence that disrupted the smooth running of the training of future leaders of the country.
He said that international organizations such as the UNDP, UNFPA and the NGO Interpeace, in partnership with the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Cohesion and the Fight against Poverty, wanted to put in place a participatory approach. involving decision-makers and stakeholders from the student world, in the search for concrete and sustainable solutions.
The UNDP representative, Attiouman Brigitte, urged the participants, members of the University Early Warning Unit (CAP-U), to take ownership of this project, to be privileged actors of the crisis prevention tool in their learning, by conveying messages in real time.
For four days, the participants in this meeting will have an in-depth knowledge of notions relating to solidarity, social cohesion, as well as conflict prevention tools and a reminder of their mission as CAP-U.
