Bonoua, The NGO FATEB (Farafina tere bola) which means “the sun of Africa has risen” has called for the protection of the mentally ill and for providing them with appropriate care, during the inauguration ceremony of its first reception and treatment center for mentally ill people and people suffering from other pathologies in Samo in the commune of Bonoua.
According to the president of the NGO, the mentally ill also need attention and appropriate care. He launched to all goodwill to support this charitable action and to help him to realize the 12 other treatment centers for the mentally ill that he plans to build in Côte d’Ivoire.
For the spokesman of FATEB, Koudouss Abdoul Ouédraogo, the opening of this center supports the efforts of the Ivorian Government in the care of the mentally ill in collaboration with public hospitals. According to him, mental illness must be looked at very closely because the crises that the country has gone through have created psychological disorders.
More than 300 mental patients and several thousand people suffering from various pathologies have recovered with the care of FATEB, whose treatments are mainly made up of drugs made from medicinal plants.
The coordinating director of the national program for the promotion of traditional medicine, Dr. Kroa Ehoulé, encouraged FATEB for the creation of this center and for having chosen to deal with mental health. He appreciated Mr. Kamara’s community approach and underlined that for 15 years the man has mastered his science. He congratulated the president of the NGO for the respect of human rights and dignity and underlined the collaboration with modern medicine.
Built on one hectare of land donated by the royalty of Samo, the center includes 36 rooms, a waiting room, a pharmacy, a mosque and a church which will be built shortly.
The NGO FATEB created in 2011 aims to protect, treat? cure the mentally ill and fight against the stigmatization of these patients.
