Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ The new format of the end-of-training examination for student teachers comes into force
Bondoukou, The new format of the Elementary Certification of Pedagogical Aptitude (CEAP) exam for the tenure of student teachers of the Center for Animation and Pedagogical Training (CAFOP) comes into force from this school year 2021 – 2022 to respond to the improvement of the basic training of these learners.
This decision is taken in accordance with the Order on the terms of initial training and certification of student teachers taken in 2019 by the Ministry of National Education and Literacy, revealed the head of quality service at the sub – direction of CAFOP, Aké Ignace. He was speaking during a training of preschool and primary education inspectors from Gontougo and Bounkani, at the CAFOP in Bondoukou, Tuesday January 25, 2022.
“From this year 2022, the certification will be done according to the provisions of this new decree. We will not do otherwise than this defined decree,” he said.
This measure aims to respond to grievances against students, including the low level of students and some primary school teachers, to improve the quality of basic training. This new provision provides, in particular, that the training will be done in three years, i.e. two years at CAFOP and one year in responsibility in the field.
To this end, during the end-of-training tests, learners will have a 45-minute class sequence followed by a 45-minute critical analysis and an interview on their portfolio. These two compositions will be marked out of 20. And the weighted average of 10/20 will give the student teachers admission to their profession.
The implementation of this Order dating from 2019 responds to a meticulous approach which “consists of giving time to train and inform the actors involved in this reform”, according to Aké Ignace.
In this respect, the preschool and primary education inspectors, as president of the jury, the preschool and primary education advisers, as the first assessor and the CAFOP teachers as the second assessor, will make up the jury for these tenure compositions.
