The Head of the Human Resources Development Capacity Management Unit at the ILO in Geneva, Sharon Compton, has said that the International Labor Organization wants to be an employer of choice for people with disabilities.
“We want to be an employer of choice for people with disabilities and find funding for reasonable accommodation, have an accessible building, see what we need to change in our policy to make it more equal”, said Sharon Compton.
Speaking during a discussion meeting with people with disabilities in order to immerse themselves in their reality to facilitate their inclusion in the world of work, Ms. Compton specified that training will be provided to help people with disabilities. disability to apply.
She also advocated training for staff of the International Labor Office (ILO) in Abidjan, to better understand the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The 2020 – 2023 ILO strategy for inclusion addresses, among other things, senior managers actively promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities, the inclusion of disability in the ILO’s strategic framework, consultation with organizations people with disabilities strengthen ILO action and ILO programs and projects systematically to include disability.
