Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ The annual meetings of the AfDB, in Accra, from May 23

The annual meetings of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) will be held from May 23 to 27, 2022, in Accra, Ghana, reports a statement sent to the AIP.

The meetings will be held in a hybrid format, at the Accra International Conference Centre. They mark a return to face-to-face meetings after the virtual meetings of the past two years.

The theme for the 2022 AfDB Group Annual Meetings is “Fostering Climate Resilience and a Just Energy Transition for Africa”. African leaders will discuss the nature of the support they need from global development partners, as well as the estimated cost of building resilience and a just energy transition for their economies.

These meetings are the most important event of the year for the Bank Group. They attract some 3,000 delegates. They bring together the Bank’s managers and shareholders to take stock of the institution’s progress.

They also provide a unique platform for representatives from government, business, civil society, think tanks, academia and the media to discuss critical issues affecting Africa’s development.

The President of the AfDB Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, will visit Ghana on Wednesday, May 11, as part of the Bank Group’s preparations for its 2022 Annual Meetings.

He will pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, and will also meet with the Minister of Finance, Kenneth Ofori-Atta, current Chairman of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group.
