Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / SADA 2021: promotion of the digitalization of insurance services to boost the sector in Côte d’Ivoire
Abidjan, Sept 17 (AIP) – The 2021 edition of the African Insurance Fair (SADA) opened on Thursday September 16, 2021 in Abidjan, against the backdrop of the promotion of the digitalization of insurance services to boost this sector suffering from ‘a very low penetration rate in Africa and particularly in Côte d’Ivoire.
“Digital makes life easier for policyholders. That is to say, with connected objects, users will be entitled to the service without having to travel; therefore with the development of technology, we must capitalize on all these assets represented by these tools ”, entrusted to the AIP Hyppolite Konan, general manager of IXPERTA, an insurance company specializing in the offer of digital solutions for companies of assurance.
For Mr. Konan, whose company has a stand at this SADA 2021 at the Caistab auditorium in Le Plateau, “digital technology allows customers to get to the point and benefit from their insurance without too much hassle”.
“For example, we offer web and mobile solutions that can even allow users to subscribe to insurance services from their various terminals. This automation represents real added value for the insured as well as for the insurance ”, he adds, believing that only digitization will be able to boost this sector in Africa.
In Côte d’Ivoire, the penetration rate of insurance services is 1.6%. A figure which according to the general commissioner of SADA 2021, Valérie Kouamé, can be revised upwards with a proximity approach to stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
“We believe that we need to sit down with the farmers to discuss with them so that the insurances can meet their needs,” suggested Ms. Kouamé.
Globally, Africa only represents 1.5% of the global insurance market, while it accounts for 13% of the world’s population.
