Residents of the sub-prefectures of Niakara, Niédiékaha and Arikokaha (Centre-north, Hambol region) have expressed their gratitude to the agents of the Water and Forest Cantonment for the increased awareness against wildfires. bush lined with optimal information on forest products.

“This new vision of the Water and Forestry agents, led by the new local chief, which translates into information actions and above all awareness-raising on the protection of the forest cover is very salutary because it is very beneficial to the beekeeping sector”, argued a beekeeper in Loho, Adama Coulibaly Kigbafolo.
“Since the new cantonment chief of Waters and Forests of Niakara took office in October 2022, we are relieved because everyone now knows that honey and shea butter are not part of the secondary products of the forest and the bush fires have been reduced thanks to various awareness campaigns,” said Soutcho Koné, one of the actors in the shea sector in Niakara.
Another farmer, Charles Koné, welcomed the increased presence of Niakara forest commandos on the ground, since the drought period annihilating all attempts to destroy the flora by fire.
A mobile sensitization activity against bush fires was also carried out in February and March respectively in the sub-prefectures of Arikokaha, Niédiékaha and Badikaha.
In addition, the head of the Cantonment of Waters and Forests of Niakara, Cpt Didier Suy Zan led a conference on forestry activities in order to bring the populations to know the limits of intervention of Waters and Forests and dispel any ignorance of forest products. and also raise awareness among local populations about reforestation and the serious damage caused by bush fires.
