Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ Producers in the department of Vavoua urged to improve the quality of coffee and cocoa
Abidjan: The regional delegate of the Coffee-Cocoa Council (CCC), Fadiga Mamadou, urged producers and cooperative societies to improve product quality, during a meeting marking the official launch of the 2022-2023 marketing campaign with them.
Mr. Fadiga made these exhortations on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Vavoua, following an analysis of data from the past campaign according to which the CCC’s quality objective was not achieved in the department.
For the said campaign (2021-2022), the quality of cocoa beans in the department of Vavoua was 8.07%, i.e. a 100 kg bag contained an average of 8.07 kg of cocoa. of lower quality called sub-grade cocoa.
The general management of the CCC had set a quality objective of 5%, he recalled, stressing that the same objective has been renewed for the current campaign.
With regard to coffee, he indicated that its quality in the number of shelled green beans. The coffee produced in the department of Vavoua contained 74% green beans, while the rate recommended by the CCC varies from 75% to 100%.
Last year, the department of Vavoua marketed 41.26 T of cocoa, i.e. 25% of the total production of the nine departments comprising the regional delegation estimated at 158.73 T.
