Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / More than half of the students of the modern high school of Tabou did not have the average in the first trimester
Tabou, The principal of the Barou Adjéhi Valentin modern high school in Tabou, Laciné Fofana, announced that 2,049 students (52.88%) out of 3,767 classified in his establishment in the first quarter, obtained an average lower than 10, against 1,761 students (47.12%) who were able to take up the challenge.
“These results are the worst that my establishment has recorded over the past five years”, indicated Mr. Fofana who delivered this information during the review meeting for the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year, which he chaired in his establishment, Friday, January 21, 2022.
He explains these poor results, in part, by the bad habits of the pupils in particular, their frequent outings relaxing on the beaches marked by sexual perversion, the consumption of alcohol and even drugs which prevent them from devoting more time to their studies.
Mr. Fofana recommends as a solution, the prohibition of access to beaches for students. He intends to meet the administrative authorities of the city to study with them the need to take measures to put an end to these anarchic outings on the beaches which also cause many traffic accidents.
The principal of the only public high school mentioned other causes of the drop in student performance, namely the poverty of the parents of students, the resignation of some parents, the overcrowding in classes, the shortage of teachers and the lack of working materials.
It invites parents of students to play their part in the education and supervision of their children, in order to improve school results.
