The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Jean Luc Assi, promotes “a policy that respects the environment, in accordance with the environment code adopted in 1996, which determines the rules and applicable procedures on environmental and social impact studies, during a visit to the Gontougo and Bounkani regions, from April 12, 2023 to April 14, 2024.

During his working stay in these regions, Minister Jean Luc Assi immersed himself in the reality of mining activities having an effect on the environment with a view to providing appropriate solutions and raising awareness of good practices. environmental”.

In this sense, on Friday April 14, 2023, at the prefecture of Bondoukou, he officially opened an environmental and social impact study on the semi-industrial gold mining project in the locality of Tambi. in the sub-prefecture of Sorobango by the company “You and me”.

According to Mr. Assi, this study intends to assess the effects of this gold project on the populations, by proposing actions to eliminate and reduce the negative impacts and in particular to help the promoter to propose a project which integrates the concerted and sustainable development in its implementation.

We are convinced that this project in its operating phase will contribute to the improvement of economic conditions through the creation of jobs, income-generating activities and the increase in national gold production, he said. – he said, in the presence of the prefect of Bondoukou, Andjou Koua Severin.

The promoter Sidiki Ouattara has undertaken to meet all requirements related to this mining company by compensating all those who will be impacted and by finalizing the memorandum of understanding for the social benefits of the project with the populations of Tambi. I measure the magnitude of the issues and reassure the population and stakeholders that I will respect my commitments, he promised.

In the development phase, this company will employ 20 people and in the operating phase, 18 people. The financing need for this activity is estimated at 129,355,000 CFA francs for part of the investments and operating funds of the mine.

In the same vein, before the populations of the villages of Songori and Goli, among others, impacted by the work of the mining company, Bondoukou Manganese, Minister Assi assured, after an inspection of the mining fields, Friday 14 Friday 2023 , take appropriate measures to improve their living conditions.
