“The advent of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration (MPSR) gives reason for our suffering and allows us to congratulate these young and worthy officers of a country that was on the way to extinction”, declared the spokesperson of a group of Burkinabè CSOs, Valentin Yambkoudougou.

The leader of the “Movement let’s save Burkina Faso” spoke to journalists the day after the coup d’etat perpetrated by the MPSR against President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré. According to him, the country is finally freed from a government that has shown its limits in managing the security crisis.

“We must never again redouble our efforts to support the MPSR, which came like a messiah to save Burkina Faso,” said Valentin Yambkoudougou, who invited all the active forces of the Nation to unite around the military to bring out the country of bad governance.

The spokesperson for the Collective stressed that the MPSR must concern itself with the security issue in order to allow IDPs to return to their places of origin. According to him, in the event of management failures by the new authorities, the collective will not hesitate to draw their attention to the situation.

Mr. Yambkoudougou acknowledged that the coup against President Kaboré is not normal in a democracy but it was welcome given the situation in the country. “The action of the military enabled Burkina Faso to avoid a field of ruin from President Roch Kaboré,” he continued.

Regarding possible ECOWAS sanctions, the head of the Collective noted that the people of Burkina Faso are determined to face these measures for their development.

For the occasion, he indicated that the sub-regional organization must stop supporting presidents “vomited” by their Nation and be that of the peoples.

An extraordinary meeting of ECOWAS is scheduled in the coming days to decide on the coup.
