Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ Des bouchers de Nassian souhaitent le relèvement du prix de la viande de bœuf
Nassian, The president of the butchers of Nassian, Yao Kouadio Lucien, and that of Kotouba, Yao Kouadio Augustin, want the price of the kilogram of beef to be raised to 2500 FCFA.
They made this request, Thursday, May 11, 2023, during the examination of the files by the departmental commission for the examination and approval of the profession of butcher and owner of cold rooms, at the prefecture.
Currently, the kilogram of beef costs 2,000 francs in Nassian and 2,200 francs in Kotouba, according to the two presidents, this increase is necessary in view of the high cost of beef, the purchase price of which has doubled.
“From 200,000 francs in the past, it is sold at 400,000 francs, those from 400,000 to 800,000 or even one million FCFA, while the price per kg of meat remains unchanged”, they said.
In addition, the demand for beef is scarce. ‘People are less and less interested in beef. They prefer to turn to braisers of mutton and goats, the direct competitors of approved butchers. Worse, there is no slaughterhouse in Nassian,’ they added.
Faced with these claims, the prefect of Nassian, N’Guessan Kamon, chairman of the approval commission, said he had taken note and promised to submit them to the commission for examination.
