Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/CAFOP teachers trained in the practice of digital teaching

San Pedro, About a hundred teachers from the Animation and Pedagogical Training Center (CAFOP, holders and trainees) and administrative staff took part, on Wednesday January 26 in San Pedro, in a training on the conducting lessons through digital means, in the context of CAFOP reforms.

They have received practical training, in order to be able to remotely train, for certain dedicated modules, the student teachers under their responsibility, from an online learning platform.

During this workshop, participants learned how to create an account on www.eduweb.ci, to connect to the workspace of this platform, to discover the ”CAFOP online” space and its functionalities, to access a training module, to use the course registration key and to make the course summary available to learners on the platform.

They were taught, among other things, how to assess online, how to correct soft copies on the platform, how to operate a YouTube channel for instructional videos, how to make a YouTube video hyperlink in a learning space, the animation of a synchronous online session (videoconference).

After this face-to-face stage, there will be a second part of the training which will be done online. It will be a question of teaching teachers how to follow a trainee from a distance.

The trainer, Elogne Zoro, CEO of the EduWeb group, indicated that this innovation will be an alternative to the difficulties that prevent several visits to student teachers in the field.

Effect, he explained, in addition to the three statutory visits planned, one can add three or four virtual visits from a You Tube video which shows the student teacher in a lesson situation. Thus, without moving, the CAFOP teacher can scrutinize the video from the platform and bring observations to the practice of his student, in order to improve it.

The initiative began in 2021 with the training of focal points designated within the various CAFOPs, during a seminar organized in Grand-Bassam. They were supposed to return the knowledge acquired to their colleagues. The training workshops were initiated for all the teachers on all the 16 CAFOPs of Cote d’Ivoire, in view of the results of this first year of exercise.

For this 2021-2022 school year, four CAFOPs are scheduled to receive the EduWeb group training team. She has already visited the CAFOPs of Aboisso and Bouaké. The apotheosis will take place at CAFOP in Abidjan.
