Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/CAF sets up a satellite office in Abidjan to follow preparations for CAN 2023

Abidjan, 04 Apr 2022 (AIP)- The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe, set up on Monday 04 April 2022, a satellite office in Abidjan, in the commune of Cocody, in order to allow collaborators to better follow the preparations for the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) which will take place in Côte d’Ivoire in June 2023.

Dr Motsepe congratulated the efforts of the Ivorian authorities headed by the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, to work with his institution to offer the sports world one of the best CANs. He was pleased with the state of progress of the construction and rehabilitation of sports, road and accommodation infrastructure despite some reported difficulties.

The boss of African football urged the Ivorian players to unite especially in this period marked by the future election of the future new members of the executive committee of the federation scheduled for March 23. He recalled that CAF has no bias and will work with the winning list.

According to the president of the standardization committee of the Ivorian Football Federation (CN-FIF), Mariam Dao Gabala, the opening of this office not only marks the start of the organization of the cup entrusted to our country , but also allows the umbrella of continental football to get closer to the host country.

An opportunity for the Minister for the Promotion of Sports and the Development of the Sports Economy, Paulin Claude Danho, to express his gratitude to CAF, on the part of the will of its leaders to be alongside the Ivorian government in order to allow him to successfully organize an exceptional CAN.

His presence, for the second time on Ivorian soil since his accession to the head of CAF, and especially a year after the first visit, said Mr. Danho, testifies to the interest he takes in this event for which the Côte d’Ivoire has invested more than 400 billion francs for the establishment of the necessary infrastructure and intends to deliver them all by December 31 at the latest in accordance with the specifications.

“By opening this office in Abidjan, you demonstrate your commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire in respecting international standards. You also commit to being close one year before the start of the competition, to be by our side, to follow up on all the tasks, to correct the imperfections but above all to unite our energies to achieve the best CAN, “he said. declared.

The local CAF office in Abidjan occupies an R+4 building consisting of 14 apartments and two detailed open spaces, namely 14 apartments with four rooms each, three independent bedrooms with fitted wardrobes, a living/dining room, a semi- equipped, a balcony, two dormitories, a guest WC, 24 parking spaces, a sentry box, a storage room, an elevator, two 6,000-litre water reserves.

The premises are equipped with 57 splits including four per apartment, 14 water heaters and 14 smoke detectors.

CAN 2023 will take place in six stadiums in five cities in Côte d’Ivoire from June 23 to July 23.
