Côte d’Ivoire -AIP/A Beninese NGO awards the prize for “best African citizen” to the deputy-mayor of Tiassalé
Tiassalé, Apr 29, 2023 (AIP) – The Beninese NGO Étoile d’Afrik has awarded the prize for “best African citizen”, which bears the name of the former Beninese president, Mathieu Kérékou, to the deputy mayor of Tiassalé, Antoine Assale Tiemoko. “His dynamism in parliament really reveals the role of an MP. His actions at the head of the municipality of Tiassalé show the real role of a mayor, but also his positions on issues of national, even international interest, show that Antoine Assalé Tiémoko impacts the lives of the populations of Tiassalé, of Côte d’Ivoire and even of Africa to a great extent”, justified the president of the NGO, Mohamed Badélé. Mr. Badélé sees proof of this in the fight against the high cost of data, which is being emulated in many African countries. “Happy and proud to receive this other pan-African distinction, one year after the one received in Burkina Faso for the same reasons”, Mr. Assalé said “measure the responsibility which is now his, that of carrying the voice of the Ivorian populations who suffer in silence and who could lose hope in the policy which must be done in their interest and not that of the politicians”. He dedicated his prize to the people of Tiassalé, of whom he is the representative in parliament and who allow him to speak on their behalf. Congratulating the recipient who is the pride of Tiassalé and Côte d’Ivoire, the sub-prefect Assé Assalé also expressed, Thursday, April 27, 2023, his gratitude to the NGO for having chosen an Ivorian citizen. In August 2022, the mayor of Tiassalé received the prize for “second best mayor in Côte d’Ivoire” after the one obtained in 2021 which designated him as the one who fought “against urban disorder”.
