The Centre of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday handed over multi-media technology equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS).
Speaking at the handover ceremony in the capital, MoHSS Executive Director, Ben Nangombe, expressed gratitude on behalf of the ministry.
“This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in our journey towards improving public health communication. The media equipment we receive today serves as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration and positive change,” Nangombe said.
He added that with these state-of-the-art tools at their disposal, they are equipped to deliver impactful health messages to the communities with greater clarity and effectiveness.
Furthermore, the executive director extended his heartfelt gratitude to the CDC for recognising the importance of media resources in advancing public health.
At the same ceremony, CDC Country Director Brian Baker stated that the American government, through the CDC, is a proud to partner with the MoHSS to have the equipment needed to produce high quality communications that help convey important health messages.
Baker added that CDC has supported the MoHSS for over 20 years and that over the years, CDC has worked with the MoHSS on numerous public health messaging campaigns that have helped improve outcomes in the country on healthcare needs such as HIV and AIDS, COVID-19, hepatitis E, anthrax, and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever.
“I congratulate the MoHSS on working to strengthen its public health message capacity, public health messaging is a continental need and CDC Namibia is committed to support the MoHSS in the important area of multi-media,” he said.
