Bomet Partners with KCB Foundation to Enhance Vocational Training for Youth


The County government of Bomet has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the KCB Foundation to bolster vocational training for the youth in the region.

The agreement, finalized during a meeting at the county headquarters, aims to provide scholarships and enhance the skills set for young people in Bomet, addressing the growing demand for skilled labour in various sectors.

The partnership will focus on improving existing vocational training institutions within the county, ensuring they offer updated courses that meet industry standards.

The KCB Foundation, a subsidiary of Kenya Commercial Bank will provide technical support, assist in curriculum development, and facilitate capacity building for trainers.

Paul Mutai, the KCB branch manager in Bomet, highlighted the organization’s commitment to education and youth empowerment.

‘By investing in vocational training, we are investing in the future of our youth. This MOU entails our well-laid significant plan towards building a skilled workforce that c
an contribute meaningfully to the economy of our nation,’ said Mutai.

The KCB Foundation also aims to establish training centres within existing vocational institutions, allowing local youths to receive hands-on training in various fields, including agriculture, construction, and information technology.

Speaking at the event Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok underlined the importance of vocational training in combating youth unemployment.

‘This collaboration will not only enhance the skills of young people but will also create job opportunities that are crucial for the county’s economic growth. I therefore call upon our youths to take advantage of these precious opportunities,’ he stated.

The initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of young people in Bomet County, paving the way for a sustainable model of vocational education that could be replicated in other regions.
