Bishop wishes well KPSEA, KCSE candidates

As Grade 6 and Form 4 learners countywide prepare to start their national examinations, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a, James Maria Wainaina, has urged the candidates to be courageous and confident.

Speaking at Kiangunyi Girls High School, Kangema, during the schools’ candidates’ prayer day, the Bishop further called for concerted efforts amongst all the education stakeholders in the country to ensure a seamless examination period.

‘We all need to offer our candidates the emotional, physical, and spiritual support they require at this time,’ he said, imploring the candidates to ‘be of good courage, avoid all distractions, and let nothing stop you from putting your best foot forward. I am praying for you and with you, and I wish you all the very best in examinations.’

On her side, Ms. Scholastica Waweru, the Principal of Kiangunyi Girls High School, confirmed that the candidates had been well prepared through intense revision programmes and were ready to sit for their examinations.

‘This y
ear we have 199 candidates sitting for their final exam, and they have been thoroughly prepared by their teachers, and we are confident they will emerge victorious,’ she said.

Ms. Waweru observed that as part of the preparation, the students had exams every week and therefore should not be afraid of the KNEC examinations, as the only difference with their normal exams is that they will be done nationally.

In Murang’a County, 31684 candidates will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 344 examination centres, whereas 23346 grade six candidates will sit for the Kenya Primary School Assessment ( KPSEA) exams in 624 examination centres.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is set to begin from October 22, while the Kenya Primary School Assessment (KPSEA) candidates will begin their rehearsals from October 25, with their examinations set to begin on October 28.
