Four armed robbers allegedly broke into an elderly couple’s residence at Duineweg in Aranos and stole properties of unknown value in the early hours of Sunday.
The weekend crime report of the Namibian Police Force on Sunday said the incident happened between 02h00 and 02h20 when the four suspects masked in balaclavas and armed with a pistol, a knife, and a panga, gained entry into the victims’ house through an unlocked sliding door, overpowered and tied them up before ransacking the house in search for the key to the safe.
The suspects thereafter got away with properties such as a Marlin rifle, two Mauser rifles, one CZ rifle, one CZ pistol, one Taurus revolver, one Samsung Galaxy A13 cellphone, one Nokia 105 cellphone as well as meat, biltong and wine that have not yet been recovered.
The report added that the suspects also got away with a white Toyota pickup that was used as a getaway vehicle, which was however recovered on the outskirts of Mariental around 13h00, on the same day.
The suspects are still at large and police investigations continue.
