AIP/ Le taxi ivoirien se digitalise grâce à une application mobile

Abidjan, April 04, 2022 (AIP)- In its drive to digitize the transport sector in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly in Abidjan, to make it more efficient, City ADS launched, on Monday April 04, 2022, its application “Ivory taxi”, downloadable from App Store and Google Play, which connects the customer and the driver.

City ADS Operations Manager, Abel Trinidade, noted that this application offers “comfort with new air-conditioned vehicles, economy with fixed rates, safety with experienced and dedicated drivers trained for better service, drivers checked and traceable in the event of an incident”.

For product manager Armand Daniel Yao, it’s an application of the Ivorian taxi, for Ivorians. “Ivoire taxi is a 100% connected mobile application, made in Côte d’Ivoire, which allows users to order a taxi of their choice from a wide range of taxis, without worrying about the price of the trip, the comfort, the security and things useful for his peace of mind during his journey, ”he explained.

He indicated that the advantage for the customer is that he has the option of paying for his trip in cash or online or by Visa card, he has the possibility of making reservations over several days and having the choice of his driver, he benefits from subscription packages for races per hour, daily and per week, and also, different categories of taxi are offered to him.

As far as the driver is concerned, he benefits from an electronic wallet which allows him to pay the customer’s currency, the guarantee of carrying out his journey in a secure environment with the ranges of vehicles “Ivoire taxi” or metered taxi orange new and well maintained and also subscription packages by races.

The secretary general of the economic interest grouping (GIE) for the development of the urban taxi industry, Serges Ouattara, invited all carriers who are in the taxi sector to take ownership of the new “Ivoire taxi” application which is exclusively dedicated to urban taxi carriers.

“We are very happy with the implementation of this application which fixes everything. The metered taxis pay one million FCFA in taxes to the State per year. We therefore could not accept this unfair competition. I invite all metered taxi drivers to welcome this baby who was born for our well-being”, declared the president of the GIE, Cissé Yaya. He returned to the strike called by the Association of Meter Taxi Drivers (ACTC) in November 2021.

The metered taxis protested against all forms of carpooling and all forms of public transport. ACTC President Bakayoko Mamadou, during a press briefing in August 2021, had deplored the use of personal vehicles Wôrô-Wôrô, Yango, Uber, etc., which have no documents allowing them to exercise transportation activity.
