United States Independence Day: Ambassador Richard Bell confident in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic future
The United States Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Richard K. Bell, reiterated, on Thursday July 1, 2021, in Abidjan, his country’s confidence in the economic future of Côte d’Ivoire, which has achieved extraordinary performance in a decade, reports the government information and communication center (CICG).
Mr. Belle was speaking on the occasion of the celebration of the 245th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the United States, in the presence of the President of the Republic Alassane Ouattara, the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara, the Prime Minister Patrick Achi and members of the government.
“Almost everything the US government does in Côte d’Ivoire is an investment in the people of this dear country. However, an investment is an expense based on optimism. If we did not believe in the future, it would not make sense: we would rather tend to conserve these resources. So America believes in Côte d’Ivoire, ”he said.
The American diplomat spoke of the excellence of bilateral relations between the two countries, insisting on his country’s funding in Côte d’Ivoire, in particular PEPFAR, a program to fight HIV-AIDS, the contribution to the fight against malaria and Covid-19, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) program, etc.
Richard Bell expressed his faith in the Ivory Coast, a country, according to him, of strategic importance and engine of the development of the sub-region. It is, he added, led to continue its march towards progress, under the enlightened leadership of President Alassane Ouattara.
