Ivory Coast-AIP / Fight against smoking: the “Feather anti-tobacco” competition launched

The “Anti-tobacco feather” competition initiated by the Network of Communicators for the Fight Against Smoking and Alcoholism in Schools and Universities (RECLTASU) and reserved for professional journalists has been officially launched during a press conference.

Sponsored by the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Pierre Dimba, this competition aims to involve journalists more in the fight against tobacco through publications related to smoking.

According to the organizers, three prizes will be up for grabs, namely the best Radio and Television production with the prize from the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage. The prize for the best article in the written or digital press, sponsored by the RTI to the tune of one million CFA francs.

”You have to be a professional journalist and experienced in an editorial office. And not to be a member of the executive board of RECLTASU ”said the president of the network, Dimitri Agoutsi in the presence of the deputy coordinating director of the National Program for the fight against smoking”, alcoholism and other addictions (PNLTA), Coulibaly Oumar.

The productions are eligible from May 28 to August 20, 2021, and the awards ceremony is scheduled for September 3, 2021 after jury deliberations, said Mr. Agoutsi, Friday May 28, 2021 in Cocody.

The themes that must be addressed by journalists are the following: The consequences linked to the consumption of tobacco and new tobacco products (hookahs, electronic cigarettes), the interference of the tobacco industry in the fight and popularization of the anti-smoking law.
