The chief of staff of the Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MINEDD), François Kouablan, spoke Tuesday 1 st June 2021 in Bingerville, the opening of a validation workshop of the Report on the State of the Environment of Côte d’Ivoire, the need for the country to have a decision support tool encompassing all aspects of society.
“To initiate a development which respects the foundations of sustainable development, we need a broad and global view which integrates sectoral interactions but also and above all which decompartmentalizes the sectors of activity by taking into account their specificity and their requirements”, said Mr. Kouablan .
The representative of Minister Jean-Luc Assi, explained that his department, in a dynamic search for perfection, Coptic on the involvement of the experts present at this workshop, in order to perfect the development of this draft report. “(…), I consider that in this sense, the conclusions of this meeting are called upon to play a primordial role for the future of the protection of the environment of our country”, he indicated.
The MINEDD chief of staff expressed the wish that the work that will result from this workshop will make a significant contribution to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development in Côte d’Ivoire.
The representative of the ECOWAS Commission, Koffi Yao Bernard recalled that in order to promote a better understanding of the interdependence of the different components of the environment, his organization began the process of preparing the sub-regional report on the state of the environment.
He explained that this report will provide evidence of environmental changes occurring on land, water, biodiversity and atmosphere in different parts of the sub-region. “I urge you to make sure that the data and information will really make it possible to assess the state of the environment of Côte d’Ivoire”, expressed Mr. Koffi.
