Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / The construction of the first tranche of the International Academy for the fight against terrorism is estimated at CFAF 15 billion
The Minister of State, Minister of Defense, Téné Birahima Ouattara, revealed that the first phase of construction work for the International Academy for the Fight against Terrorism (AILCT), delivered on Thursday June 10, 2021 in Jacqueville, is estimated at 15 billion CFA Francs.
As for the remaining construction works, they are estimated at 25 billion FCFA, he said, specifying that the work is built on a site of 1,100 hectares.
This Academy, which has already trained 500 actors in the fight against terrorism from around fifteen African countries before its inauguration, will accommodate a management structure, simultaneously provide three training classes for trainees on a suitable site, ” host former trainees and feed 80, but its role will above all be to train special anti-terrorist units from the Ministry of Defense.
For Birahima Ouattara, this structure will make it possible to implement three pillars, namely training for specialized units, the training of executives, actors in the fight against terrorism from the Ministries of Justice, Defense and Interior, and strategic research on the study of the terrorist threat.
According to him, this structure must become a respective pole and a regional structure for the fight against terrorism for the benefit of the security of States and populations.
He was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the structure in Jacqueville, in the presence of Prime Minister Achi Patrick, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean Yves Le Drian, the Minister for State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora, Kandia Camara, and Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Vagondo Diomandé.
