Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / Signature of agreements between the presidents of associations of real estate developers from three countries

The presidents of associations of real estate developers from Côte d’Ivoire, Siriki Sangaré, Senegal, Souriba Maïga and Burkina Faso, Roger Nikiéma, signed agreements on Thursday June 17, 2021, in order to pool their actions in the search for solutions to the housing problem in their respective countries.

According to the president of associations of real estate developers in Côte d’Ivoire, Siriki Sangaré, these agreements consist of exchanges of experience in the field by federating actions to make “concrete proposals” to their leaders in order to reduce the deficit. in the matter.

“These are the same problems that we find in Senegal and Burkina. Talking about Côte d’Ivoire without talking about these countries, we thought it didn’t make sense. We must pool our efforts, ensure that we can reduce the deficit of everything related to the sub-region, ”specified Mr. Sangaré.

“The real estate sector in Burkina is at an embryonic stage compared to Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. We thought that the Burkinabè can benefit a lot by making study trips, trips to better understand the real estate sector and to embrace the real problem which is financing ”, indicated, for his part, the president of ‘associations of real estate developers, Roger Nikiema

The president of associations of real estate developers of Senegal welcomed the signing of this agreement, stressing that the real estate sector in his country is facing “a major handicap but cyclical due to the socio-political situation that has prevailed since. Ten years” in Senegal.

Since 2012, the government of Côte d’Ivoire has initiated a program to build 60,000 social housing units in 2015. But the project has been revised with the objective of 150,000 social housing units to be built over the 2021-2025 period. A memorandum of understanding was signed to this effect on Thursday 10 June 2021 between the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Town Planning (MCLU) and British companies.

The housing deficit in the country now stands at around 500,000 units, with an increase of 10% each year.
