For his first visit to a structure under supervision since his appointment on April 6, the Minister of the Digital Economy, Telecommunications and Innovation, Roger Félix Adom visited on Thursday June 17, 2021 at the African Higher School of Information and Communication Technologies (ESATIC).
This first contact visit, which had as a pretext the inauguration of the CISCO training room and the Pearson Vue Center of ESATIC, was the occasion for the Minister to encourage the students of this school of excellence and to reassure staff of the State’s commitment to a Ivory Coast focused on innovation and digitization.
It is rightly that the director general of ESATIC, Prof Adama Konatė, presented the feats achieved by this establishment while making complaints to improve its functioning.
Among other requests, appear the adoption of an amending decree to allow the appointment, by decree, of deputy directors; the issuance of the decree of the Minister of Construction to set up the commission responsible for settling disputes relating to the recovery of the assets of the ESATIC; support for the School in setting up a staff insurance cover system.
Professor Konaté also asked for the strengthening of the budgetary resources of ESATIC; its equipment with latest generation equipment; the extension of the establishment outside Abidjan, as well as the equipment of the staff with computer equipment and Internet connection, starting with the teachers in order to facilitate the start of distance training.
This last complaint was granted forthwith by Minister Adom who offered 70 Wiboxes with Internet connection to teaching staff.
ESATIC was created in 2012 by the Ivorian State to face the challenges of training in the field of ICT, but also and above all to provide Côte d’Ivoire with a training structure responding to the major challenges of this sector. .
Open with 100 students, the School currently has 600, nine years later. The best 16 of them, in this case the entrepreneurial students and the brightest of the 1st semester of the academic year 2020-2021, received distinctions during the ceremony. The Minister also visited the rooms and construction sites of ESATIC.
