Côte d’Ivoire-AIP / Inter / President Kaboré chairs the first council of ministers with the new government

The president of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, chaired Thursday 1 st July 2021 in Ouagadougou, the first contact-making council of ministers with the new government in place 24 hours earlier.

Prime Minister Christophe Marie Dabiré, during a press briefing, set the context for the formation of the new government and declined the orientations of the Burkinabè Head of State.

“The various attacks that our country has experienced very recently, the attacks which were extremely serious, challenged the conscience of the Head of State who considered that this readjustment was essential”, declared the head of government who clarified that this is the reason that led President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré to take over the reins of the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans Affairs for an internal reorganization of all the structures responsible for defense and security for to give a new dynamic and a new breath to the strategy of fight against terrorism in Burkina Faso.

He also indicated that the appointment of a Minister Delegate to the President of Burkina Faso, in charge of national defense and ex-combatants, is intended to enable the President of the Republic to manage operational issues of national defense.

The change in the security department is also explained by the desire of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré to reorganize this sector for more efficiency, he added.
