A total of 191 hate speeches on 153 Facebook profiles, pages and groups were recorded from Thursday June 3 to Tuesday June 9, 2021, according to a study conducted by an observatory.
Hate speech during this period is up 10%, deplores the observatory which operates within the framework of the Political Transition and Inclusion Program, funded by USAID and implemented by several organizations.
The evolution of these hate speeches would be consecutive to the threats related to the arrival of the former president Laurent Gbagbo. Xenophobic remarks, threats, animalisations and identity insults have favored this increase on the web, reports the circular.
For the first week of June 2021, a total of 130 hate speech was recorded in Facebook groups against 61 on pages.
