Côte d’Ivoire-AIP/ President Ouattara offers 14.5 T of food to the Muslim community of Dimbokro

Dimbokro, 04 Apr 2022 (AIP) – The President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, donated 14.5 tons of food to the Muslim community of Dimbokro, in order to support it during this month of fasting which began on Saturday April 2.

Food consisting of 200 boxes of sugar and 4.5 tonnes of rice was handed over to the Muslim faithful by the regional prefect, Coulibaly Yahaya, during a ceremony organized on Sunday, in the presence of the regional president of the Superior Council of Imams, of Mosques and Islamic Affairs in Côte d’Ivoire (COSIM), Doumbia Moustapha, at the Great Mosque of Dioulakro.

Mr. Coulibaly pointed out that each year, at the same time, the Head of State comes to the aid of the Muslim faithful as well as of all the other religions in the country. The month of Ramadan is the month of great spiritual gains and benefits. It emphasizes the values of empathy and generosity. “Now is the time to think of those who are less fortunate than us and who do not have food and drinking water all year round, to understand the suffering and pain of the needy”, explained the prefect to justify President Ouattara’s gesture.

Through the voice of Imam Doumbia Moustapha, the Muslim community welcomed the constant presence of the President of the Republic at his side. He made blessings so that Allah, in His infinite goodness, would help him to lead the country in peace and cohesion. The Head of State also offered tons of rice and sugar to the Muslims of Kouassikouassikro.
